Thoughts From Afar Wishing On Stars

Thoughts From Afar Wishing On Stars

As I said, I worked on a few songs yesterday for fun. I revisited a few of my favorites…
Escape- Who Controls The Stars, is a song that I wrote about longing for that secret crush. You  know the feeling of having a crush on someone who doesn’t seem to know that you exsist? The thoughts and fantasy of them falling for you as well. The wondering what it would be like to spend time one on one in their company. The wishing on stars kind of crush! Not just for kids, I highly recommend wishing on stars… If you have forgotten how, I will remind you…
Starlight, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight! That’s my version anyway. Sometimes it’s just nice to sit outside, look up at the stars and wonder about life. This song is written all about that! Big dreams come to mind! I’m never short on those… If romance isn’t your thing, chase whatever else beckons your attention. How bout that big music career or that pretty red Mini Cooper convertible, both of which I dream about. Never give up wishing on stars!
Secondly, I worked on a song called Lover Boy. Lover Boy is written by Rick Davies of Supertramp. I was searching through my music catalog and found it missing from my SoundCloud channel! I’m always happy to do this song as it is playful, cheerful and a challenge! I so hope that Rick Davies decides he is well enough to tour again. I have a great desire to see him in concert. Would love to meet him as well. Yet another dream of mine!  Together with Roger Hodgson but maybe independently… I have even sat  at length and thought about how nice it would be to sit with both songwriters and talk. I think it would be so much fun to have them over for dinner and chat. Secret thoughts, silly to most but fun to think about!  If I could have Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson over for dinner, what would I serve them?  More wishing on stars! Beats the heck out of worrying about bills, what needs to be fixed, cooked or cleaned! Endulge in fantasy, they’re free and nobody has to know unless you tell them!
Lover Boy…
I’ll take and create a little Escape… What about you? What will you find yourself wishing on stars for?

This Is The Year Of The Open Hand

This Is The Year Of The Open Hand

I took a day to myself today. The kids had things to do with friends and family. The house was quiet and I took time to just play and sing. Therapeutic I’m sure! I also created a YouTube video on iMovie. I used my Praying For Time SoundCloud track. I like making the iMovies, they are very personal and completely reflect my life. They are all my personal pictures set to the music I create. Intensely personal. This one tells a bit of a story about how I came to be a Grandparent raising my 5 year old Gran old Granddaughter. It shows a lot of Alissa’s brave moments. Most of them are. Exceptance of our situation will settle with us in time. I just heard from the adoption caseworker . We begin this process in a few weeks…
When I watched my movie back today, it made me tear up in places. We both looked so tired those first few weeks and months. Weary and emotionally wrought. This life change is humbling for both of us I’m sure.

Paying Homage To An Old Friend

Paying Homage To An Old

Not much beats a comfortable chair! I finally got my chair. We bought it back on May 1st. Have had nothing but hassles in getting it. What a headache! We will never buy a special order piece from American Furniture Warehouse again. Customer service was terrible! Nobody knew what was going on with the order. We started calling after hearing nothing for 5 weeks… Only to be told it could be another 8 weeks. .. Just terrible service! It’s here and, it’s huge. I know what you must be thinking…it’s a freaking unmodern ugly recliner! Well sit down in this beauty and tell me it isn’t nice! Comfortable! Not going for esthetics here… This is where I navigate from… Bills getpaid here, recipe sorting, meal planning and grocery lists are the not created while sitting in this very space. Great discussions to and family meetings are conducted from this space. I needed a comfortable chair in which to park myself.
My previous recliner was 20 + years old! It was broken down and wooden parts were showing through torn fabric. I had a throw blanket over the arm to hide the wear and literal tears. It was bittersweet having to be done with the broken chair. My mother and father had sat in my chair. My mother and father would always sit in that chair when they would visit. I have fond memories of family events around and about that chair!
I rocked my newborn Zoe in this chair 14 years ago...

Saw me through a lot of great family gatherings. I rocked my Zoe and my G-kids when they were small in this

One of the last times I saw my Dad.
A lot of family history in that chair. It more than served it’s purpose! I appreciated and adored that chair and everyone who has ever sat in it. It was a great chair and I’m grateful for the time that it served. I can now retire it at the next bulk trash pick-up. I’m sorry old chair that we used you up and beat the heck out of you! You can be done now.

New friend!
The burgundy color in new chair works well for my  Feng Shui prosperity corner. I’ll let you know if it helps, I could use some help in this area!
Something More Than Nothing!
Have a terrific day whatever you do! Remember that wherever you go, there you are!

My Arizona Sun Pie With A Little Spice

My Arizona Sun Pie Sweet With A Little Spice

I made homemade crust but you can used packaged prepared crust if you choose!

I had about 4 small ripe peaches and a 1-1/4 cup of blueberries to use up so here is what I created…
I call it “Arizona Sun Pie”. Mix peeled sliced peaches and washed air dried blueberries with, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt. Mix well!

Made a double pie crust recipe…  Spray pie plate with non stick cooking spray. Roll and place pie crust into the bottom of 9 in pie plate. Prick the bottom and sides of the crust with a fork tines.

* Pour the fruit mixture into pastry lined pie plate. Roll top crust to about 1/4 in. thick. Take a small knife and cut pastry in a wavy pattern 1/4 in thick slices lengthwise. Assemble wavy strips onto pie. Using remaining  pastry scraps, roll into a 1/4 in thick sheet. I used assorted sun shaped biscuit cutters for random decorative adornment. You can use any cookie cutter of choice to decorate on and in between the pastry strips.
Make egg wash… I used one egg white and 1 Tablespoon of water. Using a fork, whip egg white and water together till frothy.
Spread on crust using a pastry brush.
Topping:
3 Tablespoons of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
A pinch (big or small, you choose) ground cayenne pepper! Mix well and sprinkle onto the egg washed crust!

*Notice the rather dark edges, it gives even more meaning to the title.
Bake in 400 degree oven for 45-50 min…
Cool, serve with ice cream or whipped topping
Enjoy!!!!

Dreamer You’re Nothing But A Dreamer

Dreamer Your Nothing But A Dreamer

This still remains in my Facebook feed as of this morning. This is what I thought was an invitation to a Private Event concert hosted by my idol, Roger Hodgson. Tonight @ 5:00 pm (my time), is the concert. No details have been given as to where this event is being held. I am assuming that I received this invite in error or something as it is a huge mystery as to where this is taking place and the concert is tonight. No other details about this event have been shown to me… Darn, lol! It has been exciting to anticipate this event though. So many dreams and a lot of thought about what I would/could say if I had the chance to actually meet him! Even my daughters got excited for me! They know very well how much the music of Roger Hodgson has meant to me! They grew up with the ambiance of Supertramp in the backround of our lives! They know that meeting this man would be a life dream realized, to me. At first I thought that this “Private Event” was a hoax. I asked Roger Hodgson on Twitter if this was going to be a concert viewable online. Roger Hodgson wrote back to me to say that it was a Private Event and not a streaming concert… The Event is real! My invitation to it may have been a mistake…
I have been working at fitness bootcamp. Today will be day #5 for this week. Zoe and I have been trying this 28 day challenge/trial. I figure 5 days a week will be a good test to see if I can make progress in my overall fitness. I had been pretty diligent in a routine of walk/jogging. I plateaued and really never saw much change in my appearance. I am hoping to see a real change with this program. I have decided that I need the 5 day a week workout to hopefully achieve some results. I have found this program to be an intense workout that actually leaves you energized! I come home ready to tackle household chores that I have been procrastinating about doing. Prime example is cleaning out the fridge. In depth purge and cleaning process that I undertook a few days ago! I also find that giving a name to such appliances/chores that require a lot of effort, actually helps you focus on the task better. By giving it a name, you give it importance and a sense of priority.
Meet Franny my fridge…

Every shelf, drawer and container clean! I used vinegar and water to clean this out. The idea of chemicals around food doesn’t make good sense to me.
I took the girls to Dairy Queen yesterday for lunch… it was fun just to get away from the routine and monotony. Nice to duck in and beat the heat in between shopping. Zoe my 14 year old, had an idea for a homemade gift for Christmas. She wants to make bath bombs. They are all the rage now and very pricey at specialty stores! We each bought one while on our trip to Monterey/Carmel in March. We each spent $8.00 on just one! Let me tell you when I used mine, I soaked in my candlelight bath for two hours! Anyway, she found a recipe to make them on YouTube. We shopped around yesterday collecting ingredients for this project. I will blog about this when we actually make them. It will be a fun project for sure! Every lady that I know will appreciate the gift of a special bath. I can envision a gift basket with special bath accessories. Even my G-Kids may have fun with these. You can put the magic capsules that when dissolved, become speciality shaped sponges.  Bath toys and those cute square packaged washcloths from the Dollar Store that expand in the bath… I can see a gift theme trending here lol. Homemade gifts/ love from the heart!❤️
Anyway, have a terrific weekend all!
This seems quite fitting today considering my foolish notions about meeting the creator of this brilliant masterpiece of music!
Here is another wonderful song that he wrote intitled Dreamer. Also a great fit for today! Sometimes, we only have our dreams, the next best thing to being there!

I've been a stay at home Mom for many years...Have earned a PhD in life experience. My oldest is 30 and my youngest is 13. On a quest to see all that I can be now. I am a musician, singer/ songwriter. In the process of trying to become marketable. Would love to make money doing what I love! I love to do many domestic things also. Nothing I do seems to be profitable. Guess I am at a point in life that I would like to be compensated . My whole life I have given freely. Now, show me my money making niche. Still in the process of figuring that out.
