Birdie Update Face To Face

Birdie Update Face To Face

Look how far they have come in just two weeks time!

By now they must be used to me peering in on them? I hear Mom squawking so they are possibly discussing my visit? I try not to interrupt much but oh my goodness, I’ve never had the privilege of such a wonderful life lesson in birdie! It has been wonderful to be Face To Face with these fine creatures!
Speaking of Face To Face, this is my original composition and video slideshow. I’m pleased with this as it is authentic me.
I posted this on my Facebook page, like any of my friends will care about it? Lol… just sayin…

This being Saturday, plenty of domestic chores are on my list. Washing and waxing the car, putting up the tent in the backyard for a sleepover with Granddaughters Elizabeth and Amelia. I’m making a nice brunch as well. Watching a Disney Movie, and trying to get close to this…
I don’t know how my phone perceives flights of stairs… during my walk run route I climb a very steep hill for about 7 min. Lol… so I’m really working hard! I love walking and sprinting a bit… come 9:30- 10:00pm. I’m ready to be done with the day… I get up at about 5 am… quiet hour to myself with a cup of coffee is time that I cherish.
Have a wonderful Saturday all!

Welch's and Betty Crocker Team Up For A Win

Welch’s And Betty Crocker Team Up For A Win

I don’t pretend to be a culinary expert, I’m just a very experienced home cook. I would love to get paid testing and reviewing the boxed and quick prep foods!  I try everything that I see that is new in my grocery baked goods section. I am a home cook who try’s to keep things interesting in preparing weeknight meals. A lot of weekends we grab dinner or lunch out so I get a break from cooking. During the week though, I try to feed my family home cooked, enjoyable meals with treats as well. This was exciting to see in my local Fry’s market. I bought both the strawberry and the grape flavor to try.

As soon as I saw these, I was reminded of a similar cookie bar that my Gram had made that I enjoyed as a kid. I have a feeling these are just like hers! I am going to make a strawberry batch today. I have the butter out softening as I write this. I will be using a 9X9 clear glass pan to bake them in… I bake from scratch mostly but sometimes it’s nice to have a product that requires little effort to achieve a nice result. I think of my grown working kids who try to scramble in the evenings to put a meal together for their families. I like to test things out for them. Semi-homemade can be a better, time efficient option!
These look wonderful but I feel the price is a little high! I paid $4.29 a box for these at the market. They better be darned good for that price lol. I think somewhere in the $3 dollar range would be more reasonable…

I followed the package directions verbatim…
Spreading the jam pouch with the tool I fashioned from a cheese spreader to spread things in tight spaces…

Christmas cheese spreader lol. Does the job!
Crumbled the remaining 3/4 cup of crumble on top and pressed down lightly with my fork…
Into the oven they go!

Out of the oven to cool…

They look good don’t they? Yum! So far, so good Welch’s! And, Betty Crocker…

Have to say that I ate a few of these and, they are delectable! So very good! It’s a win for Better Crocker & Welchs!👍🏻
My girls will enjoy these when they get home from school!

My Mexican Food Dinner At The Metzner's

My Mexican Food Dinner At The Metzner’s

Homemade Tapioca Pudding with a touch of cinnamon.
I decided to make Mexican food. I saw this Crock Pot Chicken Enchilada recipe on the Internet. I added some chopped onions and  a small can of diced chilies for more flavor.

This is what it looked like before I served it. I chopped some green onions and added a dollop of sour cream to each serving.

I heated some refried beans and made some Spanish rice for a full meal. I will make this again as it was a hit with my family! I’m always glad to find a new delicious recipe to try. Just to mix it up a bit for weeknight meals. This is a keeper, Yum!
Tomorrow I’m making Beef Barley Soup… with a nice crusty bread. A cold front is supposed to be coming in so this may be a good day to make soup?

Finding An Audience For The Noise In My Head

Finding An Audience For The Noise In My Head

The creator of anything and everything tinkers and tweaks to compulsion. Fine tuning and reworking is a songwriting given. This original of mine has been evolving for a long time. Songwriting starts with a basic outline of chords that turn into very specific chords…Lyrics come to me after I have at least a framework/ structure of a song….
Here is a progression of this particular original… One of the hardest and most surprising thing about songwriting is getting people to listen to originals! It is extremely frustrating to have written something that you are excited about but you find no audience… I am on fire to share this as it is my creation from somewhere within. Finding an audience willing to listen is surprisingly difficult…
I’ll admit that this isn’t anything that fits with what you hear on the radio. It’s different. I’m not even sure in which genre this would equate… It is however insanely personal, relevant and indigenous to my style. Authentic me.
When you try to share something like this and it is not met with enthusiasm, it’s personally heartbreaking! Nothing makes me feel more alone in the world than when I feel as if I’m not understood. It feels rather isolating. Like speaking a language that no one else understands. Nobody “gets” me… I imagine anyone that undertakes any kind of creative artistry feels similarly when they aren’t well recieved. Getting people to listen, is the hardest part…
I’m sick of just doing covers! I’m so tired of just a handful of my covers getting views…The same few songs…
I get so excited when I find that someone has viewed one of my originals!
Who Controls The Stars-
I  decided that it needed something more so I added a prologue…
Still didn’t feel finished so I added an intro and renamed it…
Finally, I added an orchestra track to complete the works… although it needs pro recording, mixing and mastering, the gist of it in it’s entirety is this! Raw form but the nuances are there.
I love Composing!

April Fools Day All Play In Phoenix

April Fools Day All Play In Phoenix

Craziness in Phoenix this weekend. A ton of events. Free concerts and the Final Four…

We went downtown to see if we could get in to the free concerts. No way, they had the music festival in a small park that reached capacity way before we got there. Some 30K people attended the Chain Smokers concert that we were trying to take our daughter and friends to.  Aerosmith plays on Sunday, (tonight). Would be great to see them just don’t know if we want to navigate the crowds…

We picked up a few of Zoe’s friends to go with us downtown last night. Her friend Zack (in the back), played DJ with his phone and kept us all entertained! Fun! Our van has a Kick Ass stereo! We were bumping! So fun!!! Come to find out that Teague (sitting next to Zoe), is a good singer who loves to do Karaoke! He was sitting behind me and I was surprised to hear how well he can sing! Zoe has great friends. We love them! We hung out at the Phoenix Convention Center and played the games they set up. Mostly just advertising lol but interesting. The kids seemed to have fun just being there hanging out.

We took them to dinner for burgers…that in itself was a fun experience for them. We went to a small bar/ grill. Mostly college kids there. People watching and a great DJ lol. The evening was a lot of fun for all of us! My oldest Britt had invited Amelia over for a sleepover. It’s nice to every now and again take our teenage daughter and her friends out to go do something fun.
I started my Saturday with Gram duty. My daughter Britt was in need of help getting her two boys to their first football game. Britt had to work and miss the games which was unfortunate. I picked my G-kids up from the gym daycare that my daughter works at. The boys are on different teams and had back to back games. I was sad that my daughter didn’t get to be at their first game. I took a lot of pics for her though.

Granddaughter Lizzy and I.
It was a crazy busy day! I washed dishes, folded laundry, changed sheets, made beds and swept the patio in between… Come 11:00 pm. I was tired and went to bed!
