My Curiosity And The Sun Are On Fire

My Curiosity And The Sun Is On Fire

Well into the heatwave. Everyday for the past week has been 115+degrees. Even in the mornings it is over 90 degrees with intense ☀️ 🌞! I walked a few times this week but my last attempt had me almost sick so…

I’ve been busy in-spite of the this heat. I became embroiled in a project that has me excited. For Mother’s Day one of my gifts was a AncestryDNA kit. I sent it off promptly and I’m awaiting the results. I’ve looked into what I can find on the Ancestry website about my family tree. Pretty interesting! I’ve enjoyed learning more about my family. In depth probing has led me to find interesting treasures. I’ve felt a real connection and a sense of wonderment thinking about the lives of my family members who have passed. I’ll share more info. at a later date if it becomes anything of interest. I’m in a investigational inquiry mode presently. I just finished the action portion of my project. I’m now to the wait and see what transpires… I’m not very good at waiting for things. Although so much of my life has been about having to be patient. A life lesson I am constantly running up against. Hurry up to wait!

Yesterday my car reported 120 degrees for the high while I was driving. Phoenix is crazy hot. I’ll just have to take my 10 year old to the pool,
a lot.

I’m reminded of this song. Another song in the soundtrack of my mind.*My YouTube Cover video of, You Know Like I Know written by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils! Here is the link! You Know Like I Know –http://You Know Like I Know written by Ozark Mountain Daredevils My Cover https://youtu.be/gpkDsZ1qwq4

This was at 6am. a few mornings ago… by Monday maybe we will get a break at just 108 degrees for the high.
Here is my attempt at keeping my pup Luna cool. She seems to like have a tub to get in and cool off.
We have had a huge fire in AZ that has created a lot of smoke and air quality issues. As a result, the sun has taken on a very fiery beautiful red at sunset! This was an ominous, looming sight. A bit unsettling…

From Tears To Jeers

From Tears To Jeers

I spent a whole week in California. Most of it was spent in the Monterey-Salinas area. Although, I did get a chance to visit my hometown, Morro Bay. I attended the funeral for a close family relative in Salinas.

Amelia and Luna had a terrific time. It was Luna’s first car trip and she did amazingly well! She visited the ocean for the first time. Luna had so much fun frolicking in the ocean!
She drank a lot of sea water and threw up what seemed like the entire ocean, in the car. The drive back to Salinas from Monterey was pretty cringey! Needless to say, a few hours was spent cleaning the car and giving the dog a good bath. Poor puppy! I wonder what she thought about that experience?
Morro Rock is such a part of my childhood… This is a tourist attraction for me now. While I was walking the dog, it occurred to me that living here, was a very introspective kind of life. I was always a loner as many that live here seem to be!
Morro Rock in Morro Bay California.
The elephant seals 🦭 beach themselves for a much needed rest. This is a remarkable sight to see. San Simeon, California. Just up the coast on Highway 1 from Morro Bay. Legendary Hearst Castle, is also in San Simeon.
Zoe and Dylan. These two peas in a pod, are the cutest young couple! I love them both so much. Absolutely charming couple.
The trip is but a memory… some of which I’m grateful for. The matter of inheritance brings out the worst in people sometimes. The family feud that ensued on our last day with the family was epic. Not my story to tell so, I won’t. Such a sad note to leave on! Calgon or Dr. Teals, take me a way! A nice hot candlelight soak is in my near future! Ugh what an ugly experience!

Speaking of notes, here are a few of my own cover notes! I’ll leave you with this, from my YouTube channel. Here is the link! Please subscribe to my channel, your support means a whole lot to me! ❤️

PhD In Life Experience Times Two

PhD In Life Experience Times Two

What a week! I lost my Father in-law and my 13 year old beloved dog . They passed away with 3 days of each other. Ed was 96 years old. He had been having major health issues for more than a year. It wasn’t a shock, but still sad. My dog passed at home without medical assistance. So very hard to watch. The sadness is looming…

When I was looking through my photos the other day, I found a pic of both Ed and Coco, together.

This was taken a few years ago.

I’m not going to dwell on all of the sadness but I will say it really adds to my PhD in life experience. I feel that this period of time, has left me with a different perspective on losing loved ones. Watching a dear cherished pet die a natural death is heartbreaking!

My dear friend dropped these flowers by with a sweet card! I’m grateful for some really nice friends! I will be getting Coco’s ashes back early next week. I’m not sure if I’ll keep the ashes or sprinkle them…

I’ll be attending Ed’s funeral in early June. A visitation followed by a catholic service is scheduled. He was a retired colonel in the Army and a diplomat in the pacification in the Vietnam war. A full military service will also take place in Santa Nella CA. the following day.

Another interesting segment of Ed’s life… He played the trumpet and studied at Juilliard School of Music. He actually played with Glenn Miller! He had a very interesting and successful life. He lived to be 96 years old. He was a wonderful and positive man! Although he will be missed, he was at peace to go. So rather than mourn him, I am celebrating him and his amazing life accomplishments!

Ed wrote a few books in reference to his Vietnam experience. This is the most popular of them.

Meanwhile, I took the morning to do yard work. Trimming with a lot of raking and sweeping. Physical work is a great escape!

Im forever trying to keep up with this but I enjoy the physical work that this is!

I wrote this composition a few years ago. I would have loved to share this piece of myself with Ed. He never knew I had a musical side. In fact, his family never got to know me at all. My husband was always and continues to be embarrassed by my musical aspirations. I can’t tell you how hard it’s been to be surrounded by negativity for the true love of my life, MUSIC!

I still have so much to work out regarding my path to independence. I still have hope and a goal! I’m not sure what gainful employment opportunities are out there for me lol. I do see, that everyone is hiring… Maybe it’s just about taking that big leap and doing something more than nothing. In my dreams, I’d be able to play my music somewhere and get paid! A lounge or ambience music in a dinner house… just somewhere that I get to use my music!

I’m now fully vaccinated against Covid-19. I am beginning to feel a sense of relief . It feels like maybe I can reopen myself as well! I highly recommend getting vaccinated. The peace of mind and hope for the future that comes with the jabs, is a bit freeing!

Flowers To Flowers

Flowers To Flowers

Mother’s Day flowers from the kids!

The kids bought me flowers for Mother’s Day. A beautiful bouquet! It is still blooming, a week later!

My daughter Zoe’s birthday was on Friday. Our family friend brought these lovely tulips.
These pretty little flowers were given to me from my neighbor. I watched her kitty cat last weekend while she went out of town. What a sweet a precious feline. I love my new cat friend! My neighbor is a sweet lady as well.
Mother’s Day-dinner out was a very nice meal out and I had great companions! Love my daughters! A lovely celebration…
We
Zoe wanted Indian food. It is her favorite dinner out. We have a place that we frequent locally here called Chennai in Chandler AZ. Oh my goodness it is always delicious. The service is great and we always have a good experience!
When the staff heard that this was my daughter’s birthday pick restaurant, they gave her a complimentary dessert. It was beautiful and oh so sweet…
Our local Safeway made this cake. Absolutely perfect! For the price, you can’t beat the quality. I think the decorator did an exceptional job❤️. Loved everything about this cake! White cake, chocolate buttercream filling and white buttercream frosting.

It’s starting to get pretty hot here in Phoenix. The intense sun is taking over the valley. My power walk/ jogs are getting hotter! By 8:30 when I’m finished with my jog, it’s already in the 80’s with intense morning sun. In the 16 years I’ve lived in Phoenix, I’ve noticed a difference in the level of heat intensity. They say that at some point, Phoenix will be uninhabitable! I believe it. We had a record breaking number of days last year over 110 degrees. Ugh…

If I could afford California living, I’d go back in a heartbeat! I would probably live in Paso Robles again. The gloom of summer fog along the coast yet a half hour drive gets you there.., Housing prices, water, taxes and gasoline… who can afford to live in California?

I spent hours cleaning the pollen and tree debris in the yard. Swept and swept the patio … Nobody even came out to the patio at the celebration lol. It was still  in the 90’s at 9 pm.

I’m off to get my second Pfizer Covid shot today. I have heard from a lot of people that I know, the 2nd one is tough. Oh geezzzzzzz… I’m looking forward to being fully vaccinated and finished with the constant reminder of Covid-19. I’m late in getting the vaccine. Probably you have already been through this process?

I spent a few hours in my new music space… I posted a few new videos of this practice session… Here are the new links…

To Not So Secret Crushes

 To Not So Secret Crushes

Tres Leches Cake that I made yesterday to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. I used Ree Drummonds Tres Leches Cake recipe. I’ve made this a few times and it never disappoints. My go to for Tres Leches.
Fruit always makes a cake prettier. Needless to say I spent a few hours in the kitchen yesterday lol. I also made a big Mexican meal. Tacos with all the trimmings, Spanish rice and refried beans. Homemade Guacamole… I really enjoy celebrating cultures via food. To make ethnic food, makes me feel as if I’m learning about the culture one seasoning at a time…

I made an attempt to get back in the swing of things in my music studio. I’m learning about the sound in my bigger space. The lighting and placement of my iPhone to capture videos…

The lighting in this space is going to be a challenge… I’m hoping to be able to record something for my YouTube channel soon though.

I hear that bands are going to be able to go back out on tour soon! I watched Chicago via a Camping World promo that aired on Facebook Tues. eve. The band played remotely from their homes. Still, the quality of sound was amazing. They are still so amazing! Oh my gosh what a band. My first band crush as a kid… wow they astonish me! So great to see a few of the founders still playing so well! Robert Lamm, Jimmy Pankow and Lee Loughnane still playing and sounding strong. I want to be playing well in my 70’s & 80’s! That would be a hoot, this old lady in her 80’s playing Supertramp and other 70’s Covers…

I’m wondering if Roger Hodgson and his band will also venture out soon? I haven’t heard any updates of the sort but I have hope! Meeting Roger Hodgson is still on my wish to do list! Awwww…. Everyone that has met him says he’s such a nice man. I can see that he is from videos and his fan club base. Meanwhile, I’ll hold on to my not so secret crush…

I saw this beautiful tree on my walk/jog through my neighborhood the other day. Such a gorgeous tree! Wanted to share it with ya.
